UK Engagement Photography; Oxfordshire, Cotswolds & The South Coast

Engagement Photography Sessions (aka Pre-wedding Photoshoots) are my favourite sessions to capture.

Here are a few reasons why I love them:

  • They are the perfect opportunity to get to know one another! We will be spending most of the day together on your wedding day, so having the chance to meet beforehand is essential.

  • You can practice posing together as a couple! I completely understand how awkward posing can feel, so why not utilise an Engagement Photography Session to practice before the big day?!

  • There is plenty of time to play and have fun together! My Engagement Photography sessions are completely relaxed. We will go on a beautiful walk together in nature, play some games and capture the love you share for one another. If you’re feeling particularly playful, there are always opportunities to pick each other up or even jump in the ocean!

  • Every Engagement session is catered to you! I know that some couples love to be more romantic than others, which is why I plan every photoshoot specifically to you and your partner. If you don’t like public displays of affection, then don’t worry - let’s crack some jokes or run around instead. Or if you are a romantic pair, let’s emphasise that in a beautiful and natural way.

So, how do Engagement Photography Sessions work?

First we hop on a call to check our compatibility: I take a limited number of Engagement Photography clients every year and only hold spaces to couples who align with me and vice versa. This is why I think it is so important for us to book a consultation call. This is the perfect opportunity to discuss your dreams and goals as a couple, how you envision your photoshoot unfolding and most importantly, how it looks and feels to work with me. If we decide that we are undeniably compatible, then we’ll book in a date and get the ball rolling!

Then we choose a location: In terms of the location of your Engagement Photography session, I love to go somewhere that is meaningful to the pair of you. This can be a specific location of your choice , for example the place you got engaged or where you met. Or maybe you would prefer to find somewhere that represents your relationship, for example a beach, lavender field or the village that you live in. Choosing the right location is just as important as the time of the day. I prefer to shoot during golden hour (an hour before sunset) and during the week, as this helps to ensure that the location is quieter and we won’t be disturbed. Golden hour also gives us the best opportunity for beautiful lighting, which makes for those dreamy and ethereal photos!

And finally, the best part… We plan outfits: I personally think that your outfit choice makes the entire session. Not only do I want you to feel comfortable, but I also want you to look back at the photos and absolutely love how you looked on the day! I usually recommend plain, neutral tones that compliment one another. If you do opt for something more colourful, this often looks best when your partner wears something more neutral or lighter in tone (see Annie’s dress and Charlie’s shirt and chinos above as a great example). If there is something location specific, for example we are going somewhere that gets particularly muddy, I will always give you a heads up for possible extra accessories like wellies or umbrellas. If you are unsure about what to wear, I am always here to help you figure out the best outfits and point you in the right direction!

Then all we’ve got to do is book a date to meet at your photoshoot location and create some magic!
